The Challenge.

FoodFutures came to us with a clear vision: to enhance their communications and marketing efforts in a way that would strengthen community engagement and support their ambition to progress from a Bronze to Silver award with Sustainable Food Places. A key part of this journey involved launching and growing their community food magazine, THRIVE – a platform designed to inform, inspire and connect local people around food, sustainability and health.

Our Approach.

We worked closely with FoodFutures to shape a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy, with THRIVE as a cornerstone project. This included everything from designing the magazine itself, to developing a long-term strategy and business plan to ensure it was sustainable and community-driven.

Our role extended into building a community of contributors – writers, artists, food lovers and sustainability advocates – who could bring the magazine to life with authentic, engaging content. We also created and implemented a social media strategy to promote THRIVE, amplify its reach, and connect with both existing supporters and new audiences across North Lancashire.

Alongside the magazine, we supported FoodFutures' broader communications through email marketing. This included regular newsletters and segmented campaigns that helped them stay connected with stakeholders across various projects – from school programmes and local council initiatives to collaborative events with the NHS, such as a regional Health Festival.

The Results.

After two years of dedicated collaboration, FoodFutures was proudly awarded the Silver designation by Sustainable Food Places – a major milestone and recognition of their impact. THRIVE became a vital storytelling tool and engagement platform for the network, successfully strengthening relationships across the region and boosting visibility of their mission.

Our strategic input, creative execution, and ongoing support helped FoodFutures amplify their voice, build deeper community ties, and position themselves as a leader in sustainable food systems.

“Working with the Amy has been instrumental in helping us grow our reach and impact. Her support in launching THRIVE was invaluable, she saw the vision and shaped the business plan to building a network of contributors and amplifying it through social media. Amy brought purpose to our communications, helping us tell our story in an authentic, engaging way. Her work also extended across our broader projects, strengthening our email marketing and helping us keep partners, schools, local authorities and even the NHS informed and involved. After two years of collaboration, we were thrilled to be awarded Silver by Sustainable Food Places. A milestone Amy contributed greatly towards”
